This restaurant has some of the biggest bowls of ramen in Calgary

We’ve got a soft stringy place in our hearts for ramen. How could we not when it’s winter 8 out of the 12 months a year? It’s the ultimate comfort food! Ramen Ichinen in the NE of Calgary does noodle soup right and big, just how we like it!

Ramen Ichinen is not the place you check out on anything but an empty stomach. These guys take portion size very seriously here and we respect and love the hell out of them for it. Also, we’ve never met a friendlier staff. They’ll remember your name and open the door for you when you visit.

You may have seen this place listed in one of our guide of best ramen places in Calgary, and we stand by that. Despite them being pretty well hidden, Ichinen has earned themselves a 4.5 star rating on Yelp. That’s crazy impressive if you know the kind of people who review anything on Yelp.

Their menu practically has endless combinations and is authentic as we can imagine it gets. The flavour in a bowl from Ichinen packs a serious punch, but their dumplings, wings and even their sake could also hold their own.

Also, their prices are beyond reasonable. This is important, considering how often we eat here. We’d tell you, but it’s so often that it’s actually embarrassing, guys.

If you want to supersize your noodle intake, Ramen Ichinen is open from 11 am to 3 pm and then 5 pm to 8 pm every single day, except Sundays. Fair enough. If you’re in the neighbourhood, consider yourself lucky. If not, we promise it’s worth the trek!

We swear on their tonkatsu that you won’t regret it.
