Twitter has released its most popular Canadian searches of 2019

Ah, data. We like it, we love it, we want some more of it. So, we jumped at the opportunity to talk about the most popular Twitter searches in Canada for 2019. Sports, musicians, politics… you name it, and Twitter has ranked it. The folks over there looked at tweets between January 1 and November 15 of this year and created a number of categories for the list. Let’s check out some of the more notable rankings.
Bianca Andreescu was the most popular female athlete this year. Makes sense, since she became the first Canadian in history to take home a Grand Slam Singles trophy. We have a feeling she’s going to be a household name across the country for years to come.

Meanwhile, Shawn Mendes managed to beat out both Drake and Justin Beiber in 2019. We’re a little surprised at that- maybe Drake and Beiber’s social media teams are focusing too much on Instagram and not enough on other platforms.
Finally, Vancouver sweethearts Ryan Reynolds and Seth Rogen took home the one and two spots for actors, respectively. We can’t help but feel a little hometown proud seeing that. You guys keep doing you, ok?
