The Calgary Zoo welcomed an adorable baby zebra this week

As if you needed another reason to check out The Calgary Zoo this holiday season, Leba, the Hartmann’s mountain zebra, gave birth to a healthy male foal earlier this week, and he’s freaking precious. The last zebra born at the Calgary Zoo was Khomas, who they welcomed December 2, 2017, almost two years to the day.

This little guy doesn’t have a name quite yet, but he does have a love for Calgary’s chilly climate. The zoo says he’s all settled in, bonding with Leba and playing in the snow.

There’s no need to fear him freezing his little hooves though! Hartmann’s mountain zebras can actually withstand temperatures as low as -15 C, but the zoo has brought him in anytime it’s dipped below 4 C. Officials have said that they’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the temperature and that he always has access to the indoors.

So, along with ZOO LIGHTS, it looks like a trip to The Calgary Zoo is in order!
