Marquee is closing its doors for good this weekend

Ah, we remember our one and only trip to Marquee Beer Market and Stage fondly. The year was 2013, and we were seeing Pusha T live in concert… Boy, those were the days, hey? Maybe we need to hit up their closing night this Friday for one last hurrah.
On second thought, maybe not. The bar/nightclub on Macleod Trail is no stranger to some of Calgary’s more interesting events. From Project Kris being hosted there (now that’s a throwback) to particularly odd concerts, it seems like Marquee was up for anything! We appreciate that.

Maybe that was its downfall… but we’re going to say the main problem is the location. You have a massive club plopped down beside a strip mall. Not really ideal and not really in prime Uber distance for a lot of people. We’re only speculating, though.
Now, the real question is “what comes next?” Maybe a new club will spring up in the next few years, maybe it’ll turn into a Staples. Who knows.
Personally, we’re hoping that The Back Alley makes one final, triumphant return to Calgary’s nightlife scene, even if just for a weekend.
Anyway, Marquee wants your help in ‘drinking the bar dry’ this weekend. You know what that means? $5.50 drinks, no matter what’s being poured! Bottles of Patron, here we come.
