Halloween just crept up on us, didn’t it? Most of you don’t even have a costume yet… and you probably won’t bother putting anything together until an hour before you’re supposed to leave the house. You’ll tear through your closet in a panic and then probably get to the party late. We get it, but here at Curiocity, we encourage arriving in a timely manner, so we’ve put together a little list of easy Calgary-themed Halloween costumes to help you on your way.
DAY 10 STAMPEDE GO-ER

If you know, you know. Plaid shirts and crooked cowboy hats, stumbling around with only one cowboy boot all while still having the time of your life. It’s standard Calgarian stuff, really. Considering you’re supposed to be missing half of your costume, this one is super easy to put together.
OIL AND GAS ENTHUSIAST

All you really need for this one is an ‘I heart oil and gas’ t-shirt, some cardboard and a black marker. This one takes little creativity, and its Albertan AF. Given the recent election, this one might be a little too on-the-nose for some, but it’s a conversation starter regardless.

PAUL RUDD (Honourary Calgarian)
Oh, our sweet, sweet Paul. Since being in town to film the most recent Ghostbusters movie, the actor has become the unaged posterchild for Calgary’s Hudson’s Pub, showing his love for the bar on more than one occasion… Is it the food? Is it their happy hour? What is it, Paul? Grab a beer, draw on a perfectly salt and peppered beard, throw on a tee and a baseball hat, and offer to take pictures with anyone who has a visible camera. You’re not shy!
DESIGNER COWBOY

The rhinestone desperado look has really taken off this year and we reference the Calgary Stampede as an influence. Give credit where credit is due! Dollar store bedazzle, last year’s cowboy hat, and a three-piece suit glittered to the nines? Seriously, people won’t be able to tell you apart from Diplo or Lil Nas X.
RED MILE SUPERFAN

Yes, it’s obvious, but it’s also easy to pull off. You’ll need a heck of a lot of red and white face paint for this one. Slip-on that foam finger and Gaudreau jersey and you’ve got it made! For added effect, chant, rant, and rave about how the puck crossed the line back in ’04.
Halloween shouldn’t be stressful, but it shouldn’t look lazy either. ‘Just here for the beer’ is not a costume. Get creative, Calgary! Hopefully, this list helps a tad. Happy Halloween-ing!
