It’s lit! The northern lights appeared over Calgary this weekend

The northern lights were over Calgary this past weekend, and we’re getting into the mood with Travis Scott saying “it’s lit” for a full minute. Queue the lit and let’s dive in, shall we?

It’s not all that often we get ye old aurora borealis show down here, but Calgary was treated to nature’s light show early Monday morning. The lights stretched all the way from Seattle to Vancouver to YYC. In fact, spots as far as Manitoba and North Dakota got a glimpse!

If you were awake in the wee hours, you might have seen the hues yourself. The northern lights appeared in Calgary for a short time around approximately 3am, due to a stream of high-speed solar wind. Going zero to Sci-Fi real quick.

More science info for ya, it’s actually been a quiet few years for northern lights. Apparently, the sun follows an 11-year cycle, and it’s been less active in coronal storms lately… yadda yadda, this was a pretty unique event.

Keep your eyes peeled, you never know when you might get a wicked light show!
