Home of the Week: A pair of Calgary’s priciest condos

For this home of the week, we’re turning our attention to a pair of condos in ‘Calgary’s only luxury waterfront boutique development’, which is apparently code for ‘we’re going for broke on the list price’. Say hello to Calgary’s most expensive condo building, The River.
Home of the Week: 135 26 Avenue SW

First off, we admit that the location is fantastic. Nestled along the Bow River, the complex is a stone’s throw away from the start of 4th Street. You know what that means- you’ll develop an unhealthy addiction to the market and Mercato and La Boulangerie’s pastries.

The first unit we’re checking out is 1120. At just over 3,000 square feet, this corner suite has got 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. It’s also got a nice view of the river and the mountains from a wraparound balcony. The price tag on this bad boy? $3.25M. Plus whatever it costs to repaint those blue walls.

Which makes the $3.6M asking price on unit 510 even more baffling. First off, it’s smaller, at 2600 square feet. Second, there’s no wraparound balcony and fewer bedrooms and bathrooms. Did the marble fireplace really cost an extra 350k?

We could get you a Basquiat for that price tag. Heck, we could probably get you two if we really tried. That’s right, this article was a ruse, we really just want to become a realtor/art advisor for Calgary’s elite.
