Harry and Meghan were just sent a formal invitation to move to Okotoks
From Royalty, Buckingham Palace and the London Eye, to life in small-town Alberta? We hardly think that’s an upgrade, but that’s just one publication’s opinion. Okotoks city council just sent Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a formal invitation to move into their humble borough… and we’re sure they’ll really appreciate the offer?
The motion to bring the royals to AB was actually brought forward by Mayor, Bill Robertson and wasn’t taken seriously at first, but later was passed by a unanimous vote from all 6 Okotoks council members. What a twist!
“[Robertson] had pitched the idea to council and one of my colleagues leaned over and said to me, ‘He’s not serious, right? Tell me he’s not bringing a notice of motion forward on that topic.’ And I’m like, ‘No, he’d never do that.’ Lo and behold, the next council meeting he does bring forward this notice of motion,” Coun. Florence Christophers told Global News.

Okotoks is 15 minutes from Calgary and only has a population of 30,000 people. This would be a world of difference for the family, but that could be what they’re after? Maybe?
Now before your ROFL, the council is aware that this probably won’t happen. They’re actually hoping that with word getting out about their invitation and their town, other families might consider calling the small town home. But who knows, maybe Harry and Meghan will bite and move to Okotoks.
