Enjoy views from a rooftop hot tub at Basecamp Resort
When a week has felt like an eternity, and the cold weather has beaten you down, sometimes you just need to treat yo’self to a ‘lil getaway. Lucky for us, Calgary is less than an hour away from the Rockies, so getting away for a few days is actually pretty easy.
Basecamp Resort is nestled right in the heart of Canmore and includes everything you need for the ideal mountain getaway. It’s a place that boasts spectacular views, modern yet cozy decor, and state of the art technology, and we have to admit that it’s our ultimate getaway go-to.
It’s only a 5-minute walk from downtown Canmore, a 20-minute drive to Banff, and close proximity to some of the best ski hills the Rockies have to offer! And with 6 different types of suites to choose from, Basecamp Resort is the perfect choice for literally any occasion.
Each suite comes equipped with a full kitchen, allowing you to legitimately stay in for your entire stay if you so choose (But honestly, being footsteps away from so many mountain activities, are you really going to want to stay in?). Each suite also has its own private exterior entrance as well.
If you’re planning a romantic weekend with your loved one, we recommend the 1 bedroom suite. It has just enough space that you two don’t end up at each other’s throats, and it’s realistically probably a lot nicer than your own apartment. Just kidding, we are sure it is MUCH nicer than your apartment. Each suite is also stocked with Rocky Mountain Soaps, making sure you and your loved ones are smelling spa-fresh all weekend long.
Their larger suites range from 6 to 16 person occupancy, making them perfect for friend or family vacations. If you’ve got little ones tagging along, Basecamp Resort has your back with their 3-bedroom bunk bed suite (So. Much. Room. For. Activities!!!). That being said, our ideal weekend away is with our pals, hanging out in the mountains and shredding some fresh pow, so the 5-6 bedroom suites are our #1 choice.
We haven’t even gotten to the best part yet (in our humble opinion)- the rooftop hot tub. The rooftop hot tub is the perfect apres-ski spot, and when the weather isn’t as frigid, there is a lovely hangout space up there to relax all night long.
In the mornings, you’ll have to stock up on bagels right next door at the newly opened location of Rocky Mountain Bagel Co. We suggest some of their freshly made Parmozza bagels and heading back to your suite at the Resort. That way you’ll be able to make yourself a lovely breakfast sandwich (or three) before embarking on your mountain adventures.
