We’re evolving, Canada! In a press release sent out this morning, the company behind fast-food giants Burger King, Tim Hortons, and Popeyes, announced that come 2022, North America’s drive-thru experience will be completely modernized.
Starting with all Popeye’s restaurants, Restaurant Brands International Inc. (the parent company of all three) will begin to install 40,000 digital screens, each with ‘predictive selling’ technology. They will also integrate restaurant loyalty programs, as well as remote contactless payment. Fancy.

Basically what all of this means, is that when a customer scans their loyalty card, the menu board will display a customized menu option based on what you’ve ordered in the past – which seems invasive, but also kind of cool?
Heck, some of you may actually have already noticed a change or two at your local drive-thru! This is because the program is actually being tested right now at 30 locations across Canada.
Unfortunately, we haven’t had the pleasure of seeing one of these snazzy new systems just yet, but colour us intrigued. This will definitely be something worth keeping an eye on!
Who will follow? Will it be effective? Will they start hiring robots to hand us our food? Only time will tell we guess.
