If we were lost in the woods or stranded on a deserted island, we would almost definitely starve. Starting a fire? Catching a fish with our bare hands? We don’t have the patience, the skill, or the knowledge to know what’s what, but the folks on PBS’s new TV series, The Wild Harvest do.
This month, foodies and nature lovers can catch Les Stroud (from the popular wilderness reality show, Survivorman) and Paul Rogalski, part-owner and culinary director for Calgary restaurant Rouge, live and cook 5-star meals off the land… for no other reason than to rub our lack of survival skills in our face.

In 13 half-hour episodes, Edmonton cameraman, Kevin Kossowan will follow Rogalski as he makes incredible three-course meals on camp stoves using only the ingredients that Stroud has found on the ground and in the trees or bushes. Showoffs.
Also, while you watch The Wild Harvest, keep an eye on the backdrop for familiar formations and trails! Not only is the showrunner a Calgary-resto icon, but several episodes from the first season were actually filmed in Alberta – which makes this whole production that more exciting.
Check it out, folks! We promise that it will only make you feel a little inferior.
