Alright, everyone knows that it’s practically a requirement to check out the Stampede Midway rides while you’re on the grounds. But, nobody wants to be the guy with bad ride taste- it’s a total country faux pas.
Here are our favourite Stampede Midway rides to check out.
Star Dancer
New for 2019, Star Dancer is a high thrill ride that uses a pendulum motion. Swing back and forth, going higher and higher until you complete a full 360 degree loop. It’s a great choice who want to get the blood pumping.
Polar Express Ride
A little bit more tame, but hear us out. If you go on this ride as part of a Stampede date, you’re guaranteed to snuggle up to a person next to you. Personally, we like to get on it solo and roll the dice with the person next to us.

Giant Wheel
An absolute staple Calgary Stampede ride. We think you should try and catch this one at sundown, so you can take in the beauty/madness of the grounds. Also, it’s the easiest way to get a picture that will make your friends from out of town envious.
The Zipper
The ride that scares us the most. Probably because it doesn’t go very fast and we feel like it could stop at any time. But, we know it won’t and we’re thrill seekers, so we kind of have to go on it at least once.
Stranger Things Fun House
A rebranding of the classic Fun House experience and a great tie in for the Hawkins Fun Fair. Think regular fun house, but with the added danger of finding yourself in the ‘Upside Down’.
And those are our top picks for the Stampede Midway rides this year. Although, we might just go all out and ride them all. Going over budget is a staple part of the Stampede, right?
