karaoke bars calgary

Sometimes you need a night out where you want to show off a talent. Other times, you want to just drunkenly scream nonsensible phrases in front of a group of cheering fans (booing friends). Either way, Karaoke bars are the best place for that to play out. Lucky for us, Calgary happens to have a pretty solid lineup of karaoke bars that are dedicated to public embarrassment and uninhibited fun all the same.

Here are our picks for some of the best places for karaoke in all of Calgary!

Bacchus 5th

This spot has a small main area for the general karaoke, but if you want the best experience then book yourself a private room. Groups of over 20 people can hang out in these spots and belt slow jams and 90s beats without worrying about what strangers think. It’s still going to sound awful, but it’s fun.

Where: 832 5 Ave SW

Nanta

One of the all-time greats on this list, Nanta is straight-up Korean-style classic. Grab a bottle of soju, warm up those vocal cords, and sing your damn soul out.

Where: 512 6 St SW

Ducky’s Pub

Probably the most traditional karaoke spot in Calgary is Ducky’s. It’s a dive, it’s a neighbourhood pub, and it’s absolutely bangin’ on karaoke nights. Oh, that’s 7 nights a week, by the way. If you don’t have much for pipes then be prepared, about 1 in 3 performers here can actually sing like rockstars.

Twisted Element

Okay, so it’s also not exclusively a karaoke bar, but it is an absolute blast. As Calgary’s premier gay bar, it’s been privy to plenty of shows and performances, so its karaoke scene is absolutely no different.

Where: 1006 11 Ave SW

Galaxy Karaoke

Tucked away in a little strip mall, Galaxy is pretty unassuming from the outside. On the inside, however, you’ll find a premium spot with private rooms. Eat, drink, sing, and party hard.

Where: 1324 10 Ave SW

Broken City

Okay, okay, it’s technically not a Calgary “karaoke bar”, but Broken City still kicks ass every night of the week. Karaoke nights are no different, so bring your pipes and get ready for a wicked time.
