Wayho, long weekend alert! We’re super stoked to have an extra day off and we’re also stoked to have a way to avoid the Sunday scaries. Here’s 8 things to do this weekend in Calgary, folks!
Otafest 2019
Did you even know that Calgary has a festival devoted to Japanese pop culture? No? Well, we do, and it goes down this weekend. Get ready for three full days of high energy activities, including a drag show! Time to find your waifu.

Go Downhill Karting
The Skyline Luge at Winsport reopens this weekend for the speed freaks out there. We don’t recommend going while it’s snowing, but, that shouldn’t stop you from checking it out Sunday or Monday instead.
When: Opens Saturday, May 18
Where: Canada Olympic Park

Eat some waffles
Fan favourite Buttermilk is hosting a weekend-long popup for everyone who wants to get their day started on the best foot. Think daily drink specials, and a new sandwich that includes mac & cheese. Woah nelly.

Cavalry FC Games
The Flames season ended earlier than we thought, but Cavalry is back in action to keep our spirits up! Their games are popping off throughout May, and this weekend’s no different. Make sure to hit Saturday’s game with your vuvuzela in hand!

GATSBY PARTY CALGARY
You’ve seen the movie, you probably read the book. You’ve definitely been jealous of the parties. Calgary, get ready to throw it back to the roaring 20s with a Gatsby bash. Thrown in 2 continents and 16 countries for more than 60K guests, this event is known to be crazy. Picture flapper dresses, live music, dancing, drinks.
