A new proposal going before a committee today is the first step on a long road towards a massive, new fieldhouse being built in Calgary. The proposal recommends that the city provide $19M so that the project can begin the design stage.
But, that number is less than a tenth of the total amount needed to see the project through. The final expected cost is sitting around $235 million, which is a whopper of a number. However, there’s a lot of stuff that comes with it.

Some of the facilities that would be offered by the fieldhouse include a new track and field space and a soccer pitch. After that, a 50M long pool and twin ice rinks would be built. There would also be seating for up to 10,000 spectators.
The project would be situated in Foothills Athletic Park, close to McMahon Stadium.
Hey, we like running, swimming and skating. Why not get a state of the art facility that supports it?
