Soooo playoff tix aren’t exactly cheap. But that doesn’t mean we’re leaving our boys out to dry– we’ll just be watching from the bar instead! Stay tuned for 9 unreal spots to catch the Flames game. Red sweater not optional.

We’ve teamed up with Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame to find you the best bars, restaurants, and friend’s couches to cheer on the Flames during the NHL playoffs. Not a Flames fan? Well, we’ll do our best to maybe give you a seat somewhere too…maybe.

By the way, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame has launched a fun, new, and FREE event called Who’s In The Hall Wednesdays and it happens to be on the first Wednesday of every month. Not a bad way to double-down on your sports intake during playoffs! Anyway, here are our picks, with some help from Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, of the best spots to watch the Flames playoff run this year!

GRETA

GRETA arcade, eatery, bar in Calgary

On game days, GRETA has $5 Bud draft and $5 Fire Jack (it’s hot like the Flames, are we right?). They’ve also recently installed more TVs so you can catch the action at all angles! Everything’s gonna be Red Mile themed, so pop by to cheer, dominate at air hockey, or maybe try out bubble hockey.

The Dome’s Red Lot Viewing Party

Ain’t nothin’ like a parking lot party! You don’t need to get inside the actual Dome to get rowdy– just camp out in Lot 3 at Stampede Park! On 3 hours prior to puck drop until end of every playoff game, this free event will have an enormous TITAN screen along with live music, Harvey the Hound, face painting, interactive stations, food and drink specials, and prizes available to be won!

National on 17th

Hanging out in the heart of the Red Mile is pretty sweet. But besides National 17th’s wicked location, they’ve also got $5 Queso Tots and Steak Tacos during the games! So go ahead, dip that Clive Sauce. It’s what Johnny would want you to do.

Jamesons

Jamesons is a Red Mile staple, so you’ve gotta hit it at least once over the course of the playoffs. From comfort food classics like chicken wings to $5.50 14oz Bud/Bud Light during game days, there are tons of factors that’ll elevate your hockey watching experience.

Home & Away

The self-proclaimed “home away from the dome” has some pretty wicked stuff going on on game days. They’ve got full sound for every game and delicious playoff drink features. Not to mention $4.75 Happy Hour all day Sunday through Thursday… Score.

Mug Shotz

Like chowing down on wings while you watch your fave team play? Mug Shotz is your spot. They have tons of different flavours (All Dressed, Dill Pickle, Raspberry Chipotle, etc). Plus, happy hour’s on every day from 4pm-7pm!

The Unicorn

Wondering where that loud music is coming from? It’s probably The Unicorn. With 3 floors, 3 bars, and 1 heck of a crowd, this place is perfect to get your rowdy on. Their upstairs spot is designated for Playoff Puck Parties, so head on up to find equally lit C of Redders.

Joyce on 4th

Joyce has a brand new TV ready to go on the patio, which means seats are gonna fill up fast. We recommend heading down early to grab some shareable nachos, half price vodka, and whiskey before the game!

The Canadian Brewhouse

Not downtown? No worries! The Canadian Brewhouse is a solid pick for catching the game near Mahogany or Harvest Hills, too. Take advantage of their multiple TVs and daily specials, there’s literally always something different to try.

So there you have it Calgary, 9 spots that you just have to check out during playoffs. If you don’t, no hard feelings… but just know that Gio will be upset with you. And nobody wants that.
