Uh oh: Canada is warming at twice the global rate

Don’t let last winter fool you. Canada is experiencing global warming twice as fast as the rest of the world, according to a report by the Canadian Environment and Climate Change Department. Uh oh.
Global warming debate aside- cue Bill Nye the Science Guy rant- Canada’s average land temp increased by 1.7 degrees since 1948. Apparently, this is much more speedy than the environment can handle.

The report states that the extra-fast warming of Canada is due to human influence. Additionally, it states that there’s been more rain than snow in Canada and that extreme hot temps are hotter while extreme cold temps are warmer.
Also, they predict that flooding in Canada will increase. Sorry, Vancouver. The glaciers and ice are expected to continually decrease. As if we aren’t already crying over pictures of skinny polar bears.

North America as a whole is expected to see a rise in premature deaths due to hot weather. These could number up to 2,000 per year by 2090 in the Midwest alone. Oh, and more depressing facts! There will be an increase in food and waterborne disease that will threaten Canadians as well.
