Wine & Dine at with Calgary’s Top Chefs at PLANTED

Hey Calgary! We’ve got an exciting food event to fill you in on. Come March 28th, WinSport will be kicking off the 2nd annual PLANTED dinner series, curated by WinSport’s executive chef Liana Robberecht. This will be a celebration of all things planted, exploring vegetarian and vegan culinary creations. Some of Calgary’s top chefs and restaurants will be participating in WinSports kick-off event, where attendees can come wine, dine and mingle over the innovative plant-based creations.

Each chef is encouraged to get as creative as possible, while creating a variety of vegan and vegetarian tasting plates, Along with WinSport’s Liana Robberecht, Melanie Hennessey, LA Rybicki, Allyson Noble and Maria Besuijen, the other participating chefs are the Calgary Zoo’s James Neilson, Winebar Kensington’s Jaquelline Warrel, Diner Deluxe’s Chris Lorenz, Alloy’s Rogelio Herrera, Rouge’s Paul Rogalski, Donna Mac’s Amy Turner, and more!
Now we know what you’re thinking: you’re a meat eater, and this isn’t your event. Well, you’re wrong. You may love meat, that’s cool, we do too! BUT (partly because of A&W’s Beyond Meat Burger) we’ve realized that plant-based eating is actually something we can on board with. And hey, for the skeptical ones out there, look– it’s not turning your back on meat, it’s just opening up to new possibilities! It’s unique, it’s fresh, and it’s usually pretty healthy. With summer bod season coming up, we’ll take any chance to feast on food when it’s actually good for you.

This is an adult-only event, where you’ll be able to sip on organic and natural wines and the feature cocktail of the evening, which uses vegan tonic syrups. There will also be a silent auction at the event, where you can bid on items while helping out a great cause. Proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to Community Kitchen, a program with one goal in mind: to reduce hunger. They do so by promoting healthy food choices while enabling communities to educate, equip and feed themselves.

After PLANTED is kicked off at WinSport, the PLANTED dinner series will continue on select dates and locations around the city. Participating restaurants will have the opportunity to feature their own PLANTED menu. Finally, to close off this vegan and vegetarian series, the Calgary Zoo will be hosting one final celebration on April 25th. For more information on the series, check out their website.
Whether you are a true blue meat eater, a long term vegan, or just an all-inclusive food lover, this event is about spreading the love of plant-based cuisine to foodies alike. Happy feasting, Calgary!
