‘Dancing Goats’ are the secret to Alberta’s best cheese

What does one do after spending years as a successful ballet dancer? Open a dairy farm, of course– that’s the only logical choice. At least, it was for Paul and Craig, the owners of Dancing Goats Farm. Maybe it’s just a cute and clever name, but we still believe that the goats on this farm are dancers too.

With a huge belief in ethical care of goats and a soft spot for alpacas, DG has made a name for itself as one of the most wholesome farmstead cheesemakers around. While the livestock isn’t nearly as graceful as the people who run the place, they’re pretty dang happy thanks to the space they have to roam around (128 acres, to be exact!).

And since happy goats = happy milk, everything they collect is super fresh and tasty. Plus, all the cheeses are made in small batches, so variety and quality is a guarantee. Basically, the hands-on approach really pays off here– and if you have any doubt, we dare you to try their Waltz cheese.
The farm’s forty-five minutes north-east of Calgary, but no stress! You can get DG’s cheeses at various spots in the city, like forage, Sunnyside, The Coup, The Nash, and more. But visiting their farm wouldn’t be the worst idea. Like we mentioned before, they have alpacas, soo.
