Iconic Kensington Gelato spot gets a full makeover

What do you do when you’ve got a big anniversary coming up? You reno, of course. At least that’s what Amato Gelato did– for their 15th anniversary (and 90th year of family gelato-making), their iconic Kensington spot got a glow up of major proportions.

The new look’s modern, but definitely pays homage to the authentic gelato and dessert bars of Italy. With lots of inviting warm wood, gorgeous tile, and soft romantic lighting, we can totally see dates going down here. (We’re free Thursday…if anyone was wondering.)

You can still find 72 flavours of gelato on the menu, but now you can get baked goods too. That’s right, you can now pair your iced treat with a pizza, a thought which is both frightening and exciting.

All the goods are partially baked (or parbaked– yep, that’s a real word) in Italy and shipped directly to Amato. This means you’re basically taking a trip to Rome every time you order a rum-soaked babba cake or some bomboloni Nutella-filled doughnuts.

Amato will be hosting a community celebration this spring and a multi-day anniversary party this June, so get your stretchy pants ready for a heck of a feast. Till then, pop by to check out the new space and grab a few (okay, a lot) of gelato bars.
