Hi pals! Another weekend has come our way which means another few days of shenanigans. To help you make the most of the end of your February, we’ve compiled a list of things you’ve gotta do in Calgary this weekend. Keep reading for the deets!
Calgary Flames vs Anaheim Ducks
Calgary is not a friendly city for ducks, so drown out the quacks with some Flames-friendly cheers and Dome beers. (Yes, we’re dropping bars on you.)
When: Friday, February 22 @ 7 PM
Where: Scotiabank Saddledome
Cost: $40+
Benny Benassi
Satisfaction and Cinema are still high key bops, and anyone who tells us different is out of line. See Benny live and in action at the Palace this month!
When: Friday, February 22 @ 9 PM
Where: The Palace– 219 8 Ave SW
Cost: $25+
Winefest Calgary
Not gonna lie, we’ll take pretty much any excuse to get tipsy… and when it’s this delicious, we just can’t resist. Buy a ticket to Winefest and get an all-inclusive sampling of wines from all over the world, plus an array of delicious hors-d’oeuvres!
When: Friday, February 22 – Saturday, February 23
Where: Stampede Park BMO Centre, Hall E
Cost: $85+
Little Big Town
If you’re feeling sad this February, you can listen and cry along with us to Girl Crush and Better Man. And if you’re feeling drunk this February, you can crush ‘Dome beers with us to Pontoon and Day Drinking. Win/win.
When: Saturday, February 23, 2019 @ 7:30 PM
Where: Scotiabank Saddledome
Cost: $33+
Special Olympics Polar Plunge
Plunge into an icy lake in support of the Special Olympics! Every dollar you raise goes towards more than 3K Special Olympics athletes representing 150 communities across Alberta, so there’s really no reason not to do it (other than hypothermia).
When: Saturday, February 23 @ 10AM
Where: Arbour Lake– 12 Arbour Lake Drive NW
Cost: All donations accepted
Block Heater Festival
Block Heater’s going down at Festival Hall, Studio Bell, the King Eddy, and the new Central Library. 28 local, Canadian and international artists will perform concerts and collaborative sessions on 6 stages, which means our ears are about to be positively blessed.
Where: Festival Hall, Studio Bell, King Eddy, and the new Central Library– location varies by event
When: Saturday, February 23 at various times
Cost: Prices vary by show
Skijordue 2019
Everyone will be rocking the very best in fur ‘n’ fringe, chowing down on poutine and melted cheese, and competing in categories like Circuit, Relay, Sprint, Long Jump, and Lounge Race (literally racing couches). Safe to say things are getting crazy out on the snow.
Where: Calgary Polo Club– 24041 306 Ave W, Okotoks
When: Saturday, February 23
Time: 11AM – 11PM
Cost: $15 Early Bird Tickets; $20 At the Gate; Under 12 years old are free
World of Wheels
Western Canada’s finest hot rods, customs, trucks, and motorcycles will be in attendance at World of Wheels, and so will some celebs. Hang with the OG Daisy Duke, Catherine Bach, or spend some time admiring My Classic Car star Dennis Gage’s ‘stache… but whatever you do, don’t look at WWE superstar Rey Mysterio the wrong way. We hear he can get kinda violent.
When: Friday, February 22 – Sunday, February 24
Where: BMO Centre– 20 Roundup Way
Cost:$18.00* ($16 Discount Tix Available at Auto Value Parts Stores)
CIRCUS! Science Under the Big Top
Circus has 20+ unreal exhibits. 20+ exhibits means 20+ opportunities to learn something new, including how to dominate on the High Wire (an extremely useful skill for day-to-day life). You can also become an aerialist and train fleas to jump through hoops, which is pretty ideal if you ask us.
Where: Telus Spark– 220 St. George’s Drive NE
When: Runs throughout the weekend
Cost: General admission to Telus Spark
Those are some of the best things to do this weekend in Calgary! Enjoy yourselves out there, guys, and don’t forget to tag us in your weekend snaps!
