Get ready, Gamers, a Nintendo Cafe is coming to YYC

There is no debating that playing old-school video games is one of the best ways to feel like a kid again. Whether it’s some not-so-friendly Mario Kart competition, a definitely-not-friendly Super Smash Bros. tilt, or an adventure through the Legend of Zelda, there is always ’80s and ’90s fun to be had on the Nintendo. All of that and more is why we’re so excited that a Nintendo-themed cafe is opening in Calgary in the next few weeks. Here’s what we know so far about Super Smash Cafe.
As reported by The Calgary Herald, friends (and enemies in Nintendo games, of course) Mohammed Chybli and Ahmad Bahay have decided to take their basement gaming sessions and turn it into a business. Sounds like a pretty solid idea to us.

The friends have teamed up with Calgary-based coffee kings, Fratello Roasters, so you never run out of steam while playing ‘tendo. And if you’re looking for a pre or post-game snack, Super Smash Cafe will have some baked goods and crepes available. As far as we know, there’s no Mountain Dew and Doritos on the menu, so the real gamers might have to supply their own goodies.
Opening up right across from SAIT, these two upstart fellas are obviously looking to gather the college and young professional crowd. That’ll be perfect for the nostalgia trip these games will provide, so we’re expecting for some busy nights at the cafe. Oh, and in case you were worried that Ahmad and Mohammed would be skimping on the entertainment value, they’ve guaranteed that the smallest TV you can find in the cafe will be 55-inches. Not too shabby, folks.
So, warm up those thumbs and get ready to game like it’s 1995 (but on 4k screens).
