Man, I feel like a woman!” It’s a line we all know and love, but without Christian Dior, it may have never been. The fashion icon made “women feel like women again” after the Second World War, and now the Glenbow Museum is showing us exactly how he did it.

The new Dior exhibit just opened this Sunday, and it’s answering the question of why so many ladies– millions, in fact– were influenced by the French man’s designs.

Using the “unparalleled corporate fashion archive” from Christian Dior Héritage, Paris, and the Royal Ontario Museum’s “remarkable collection of Christian Dior haute couture,” this showcase is a blast from the past… and boy, is it a fashionable one. Some of the best looks from 1947 to 1957 are on display here, and we’re kinda hoping that some of these outfits make a comeback.

It’s not just clothes, though. The ROM’s collection was donated by various Toronto socialites, all with moving stories about the transformative power of fashion. There’s a narrative behind every dress, so head to the Glenbow to hear them all– and maybe even learn a thing or two about looking good.
