A glimpse into the future: Glenbow Museum revamped

Look Calgary, we’re not psychics, but we have a feeling our city will look a lot cooler in the next couple of years. Why do we say that? Well, a big part of it is ’cause the Glenbow Museum might be getting an unbelievable, futuristic redesign.

Thanks to the crew at Dialog Design, we’re getting a preview into what could be. And as much as we love the blank grey stone that envelops our current museum (it’s almost as cute as the Blue Ring!), we’re pretty into this proposed new look.

With multiple windows, a distinctly more artistic feel, and a fun balloon animal addition (TBT to 2016’s questionable clown sightings), the revamped Glenbow is looking like the type to be leaving us on read… and we’re not mad about it.
Included in the glow up are a new double-height, light-filled lobby, a high-class restaurant, retail spaces, a flexible theatre, a black box gallery, education spaces and lots ‘n’ lots of art.

Additionally, Dialog reimagined the +15 bridge to connect the Glenbow to the Arts Commons. They say the bridge will slide straight through Glenbow “like a sword…offering views into the new theatre and the lobby”. Spicy.
There’s no guarantee that all these plans will become a reality, but we have our fingers crossed that Dialog gets the green light. ‘Cause come on, they managed to slip the word “sword” into their pitch. They deserve it.
