Calgary may host multiple World Cup Ski & Snowboard events at COP this winter

Well, friends, there’s a chance that COVID won’t burst YYC’s winter sports bubble this year; in fact, it might even take to new heights. According to CBC News, the Calgary is hoping to host several international ski and snowboard events at Canada Olympic Park in 2021.
In addition to hosting two major curling events, the Scotties and the Brier, Calgary could see competitors hit the hills for the freestyle ski and snowboard, Freeski world championships, and a ton of other World Cup events.

Of course, for this to happen officials must first detail the protocols and restrictions that they’ll have in place to keep both local Calgarians and the incoming athletes safe before, during, and after all competitions.
These guidelines will then need to be approved by not only the health authorities and provincial governments, but funding partners and the government of Canada – so don’t feel any type of way just yet!
