Well hey there party people. Have we got some pretty cool news for you! In a world divided, we think that there are at least two things that we can all agree on. Cat videos are the heart and soul of the internet, and Time Square’s New Year’s Eve celebration is the biggest in North America.

This year, due to the COVID pandemic, no one will be able to take to the streets for the annual ball drop bash. They will, however, be able to check it out online and according to Calgary’s Mayor, Naheed Nenshi, we locals watching from home will see a friendly, familiar face.

Tonight at 7 pm MST, tune in for music, memories and mayors from all over the world – including ours from right here in YYC!

In a Tweet from earlier this afternoon, Nenshi announced that he was asked to be one of the international city leaders to appear in a pre-recorded greeting for the event, meant to guide us into 2021.

Nenshi played it pretty cool, writing that his inclusion in Time Square’s big New Year’s Eve live stream was a ‘nice treat,’ but we think that it’s far more than that. This is an HONOUR.

Congrats, Nenshi! We can’t wait to see Calgary represented on such a major scale. We’ll definitely be watching!
