Unfortunately, we’re not psychic, but in a lot of ways, it feels like meteorologists are. We realize that it’s a science, but we can’t help but feel mystified when they’re able to accurately predict that Calgary’s weather will go from one extreme to another in a matter of minutes.

YYC is notorious for its wish-washy conditions no matter the time of year. Surprisingly though, we saw a lot of consistency in 2020, but will that continue into January? According to the Weather Network, the answer is yes, which has us wondering when our atmospheric luck is going to run out.

The first two weeks of this upcoming month will be mostly sunny, with temperatures hovering around -4°C to -6°C. As of right now, we will only see one more day of that white stuff – giving the streets plenty of time to clear which is great news for those who live in plow-less cul-di-sacs.

The last two weeks also look like they’ll be pretty nice, though there’s no way of knowing for sure right now if the average temperature of 0°C will be in addition to sleet or snow.

With the exception of the pre-holiday storm, we have actually seen a mild winter this time around – so we really cant’ complain either way. To be honest, because we’re so thankful for our extended fall and our (mostly) dry December to we’ll gladly catch whatever Mother Nature decides to throw at us.

So bring it, lady, we can handle it! We don’t want to…. but we can!
