The iconic bobsled from ‘Cool Runnings’ was just stolen from Calgary’s Ranchman’s Cookhouse

Today in “some people just really suck” – the iconic bobsled from the Calgary-filmed movie Cool Runnings has been stolen from outside of the vacant Ranchman’s Cookhouse on MacLeod Trail.

The country bar closed down only a few weeks ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving several pieces of city-centric memorabilia behind in the hopes that someone would pick everything up where they left off.

From signed guitars to trophies and various items from Calgary Stampede’s past, the previous owners believed that it was important to preserve the mini-museum for future bar-goers to enjoy. The sled, although it was way too big to keep indoors, was a part of that.

I am gutted to report that the Bobsled from the movie Cool Runnings has been stolen off the building at Ranchmans!…

According to the Calgary Herald, realtor Rob Campbell noticed that the piece was missing on Sunday morning.

In order to get the sled down, “You would have to have had a few guys,” he told the publication. “It’s not like you can just get up there with a pair of scissors and cut it down.”

The Calgary police have asked that anyone who may have information, come forward by contacting either Crime Stoppers or their non-emergency line at 403-266-1234; In the meantime, however, they will be reviewing surveillance footage taken of the area. Hopefully, something comes of this!

It’s a sad, sad day, friends – fingers crossed that they find it!
