2020’s CIBC ‘Run For The Cure’ is going virtual – here’s how to take part!

This Wednesday marks the first of 31 wonderfully spooky days, but more importantly, it also kicks off breast cancer awareness month. Every year since 1996, CIBC has held Calgary’s Run for the Cure in support of breast cancer research and despite the COVID-19 virus, this year will be no different. While the event has been reimagined, their goal and message remain the same – “Never stop running!”
In 2020, for the first time ever, YYC’s Run For The Cure will actually take place online. Participants from all 57 participating communities across Canada will be encouraged to tune in live for their open ceremonies, which will include guest speakers, surprises, and a group warm-up before taking to their neighbourhoods – phone in hand.

Runners are asked to download their exclusive app and set up a profile to participate, but we promise this will be easy as pie!
Once you’ve got everything set up and your avatar is personalized, keep track of the distance you’ve run independently, and keep an eye out for any fun features you may have unlocked for hitting milestones!
Also, because who in the heck doesn’t like free swag, before the run even starts on the 2nd and 3rd, survivors as well as ‘hope participants’ in Calgary, will be able to stop by Southcentre Mall and pick up a goodie bag. We’re not quite sure what will be in these bad boys, but we’re sure it’ll be worth the short drive.
If you haven’t registered, but would like to, or would just like to donate or find more information – check out their official website here! Good luck out there, Calgary! You guys are amazing.
