Alberta is looking for the owner of $900k in unclaimed money

Yeah, you read that headline correctly. Today, the government of Alberta put out a press release talking about all the unclaimed money in the province. And the craziest part? One person has yet to claim over $900,000 in uncashed dividends.
How does that happen? Great question, and we can’t provide the full answer. What we can say though is that it belongs to a poll of $103,000,000 sitting around in ‘forgotten funds’.

What are those? That we can cover! These funds include things like ‘uncashed cheques for government-issued benefits, employment income, [and] scholarships’ among others. So, it’s possible that a high net worth individual received some weird payments from an investment and just… forgot about it.
