Well, folks. We’ve made incredible progress in the last month or so, but sometimes taking a massive leap forward will take you back a step or two. The Inner-city of Calgary has been placed back on COVID-19 watch by Alberta Health Services, but it’s important that no one panics.
The Verve building in Calgary’s East Village is now under the watchful eye of AHS and the city, after 45 cases of the coronavirus associated with the building were reported.

Designations can be alarming, but really, it just means we as the public need to be more cautious. City officials will be monitoring the risk closely in the coming days, and will further discuss taking additional health measures with the AHS.
Out of these 45 cases, 11 have already recovered. As of Monday morning, there are 34 active cases, and three people in the hospital.
As we said, Calgary being placed on COVID-19 watch is worrisome, but there is no need for the general public to freak out. If you have come in to contact with anyone who lives or has visited someone who lives in the Verve building in the last 14 days, it’s a good idea to get yourself tested, no matter whether or not you have symptoms.
We were all warned prior to resuming regular life that this was a possibility. But the city is well prepared and were self-protection pros now. Remember to always wash your hands, physically distance yourself, and wear a mask in public if you can’t. We can get through this!
