Here are 7 attractions in and around Calgary that are now open

YYC and surrounding areas continue to be pretty cautious, and we’re thankful! However, a lot of you are getting a bit antsy and now that things have begun opening up, you’re jonesing for a new experience. Maybe you need a trip around a museum or some fresh air. Not sure? Here are 7 attractions in and around Calgary that are now open.

Mickelson National Golf Course

Mickelson National officially opened this week, and it’s incredible! The new course actually took nearly 13 years to complete and still has a way to go. In the next few months, they’ll also be opening the Range facility. A year-round clubhouse with seating for 200 people, a golf shop, a grab n’ go cafe, plus a formal dining room. Fancy.

Banff National Park

Canada’s busiest national park, Banff, opened on June 1st. Since then, they’ve actually closed down Mainstreet to vehicles to make way for visitors who hope to continue practicing physical distancing. Which is everyone, we hope

Heritage Park 

Go back to a simpler time. Calgary’s Heritage Park began the first phase of its several-part relaunch back in May. Right now, visitors can check out the Haskayne Mercantile Block shops, including the Toy Shoppe and Switzer’s. As well as the Plaza Mercantile and Corner Emporium!

Calgary Tower

This iconic building has finally reopened to the public after suspending operations to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. However, like all other city attractions who are back in business, the doors at the base of the iconic building will swing open with several precautionary measures in place. Better safe than sorry, right?

Alberta Royal Tyrrell Museum

Drumheller is a short drive from Calgary. It’s honestly the perfect little day trip. The museum has just recently opened, with safety measures in place, of course. here you’ll see fossils, ancient relics and learn about the earth as they knew it millions of years ago.

Calgary Zoo

Unfortunately, all indoor exhibits are still close for your safety, but outdoor viewing areas are still open! Now to comply with health official recommendations, visitor entry will be controlled and staggered to ensure the zoo doesn’t get overcrowded, masks will be recommended, as will physical distancing and anyone exhibiting any symptoms will be turned away.

Jasper National Park

Need a getaway? Of course, you do… We’ve been inside for far too long, which is saying a lot for Albertans who are so used to going away every weekend. Epic tours, beautiful accommodations, and one-of-a-kind restaurants are only a short(ish) drive away! Why not take a trip up West?
