Tornado touches down just outside of NE Calgary (VIDEO)

Goodness gracious the province is going through it! This season’s very first twister only touched down days ago in Mossleigh, Alberta luckily no one was hurt and there was no major damage. Even more recently, though, a community right outside of Calgary saw its own tornado, which hit the ground during a severe thunderstorm Sunday afternoon.

The tornado was seen only 15 kilometres south of Beiseker and moved in eastwards. Now as you can imagine, this was pretty alarming for the community.

It’s not totally uncommon for us in and around Calgary to see a Tornado or two in late May, but we’re sure for those involved, that hardly mattered. Natural, but unpredictable weather occurrences, are naturally, and unpredictably scary.

Unfortunately, as of right now, we’re unsure if there was any damage, and they haven’t said how fast the tornado was going. What we do know (thanks to the CBC) is that it only lasted for about 10 minutes, and primarily passed through fields, which is great news!

The weather is all over the place here, and we’re totally used to it… But man we hope that’s the last we see of the Alberta swirly for a while! Stay safe, folks!
