Alberta partners with fast-food chains to give out free masks at drive-thrus
There was something magical about getting a toy with your meal. Now, in quaran-times, the government is giving adults a chance to experience the excitement of getting a free drive-thru’ item all over again! While we wouldn’t say that this is as iconic as those Hercules plates or as cuddly as the pocket sized-beanie baby, it might save your life. Alberta has partnered with popular fast-food chains to distribute non-medical masks to customers, for free!
“We recognize that as the province relaunches and we all adapt to our new normal, we all may sometimes find ourselves in a situation where physical distancing may not be possible,” Health Minister Tyler Shandro said during a press conference Friday.

Several retail spaces have begun asking that customers wear masks if they’re coming into their store, and honestly, we wouldn’t be shocked if other sports were to adopt a similar measurement as they continue to ease provincial restrictions.
Giving PPE out through MacDonalds, A&W and Tim Hortons will allow the government to reach more people. These restos are on every second street corner, and already safely set up for this kind of service. It’s perfect!
Alberta will only be giving away 20 million of these masks via drive-thru, and they’re offering up to 4-per car, so get on it, friends! Large fries and safety? That’s a match made in heaven.
