Calgary Playgrounds to begin reopening today instead of June 1st

Although we thought that the yellow tape on Calgary’s playgrounds was a bit of an eyesore, they did an incredible job of keeping kids and parents away from potentially harmful equipment. in March, the city asked youngsters and their guardians to remain away from ‘high touch’ surfaces in order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Yesterday, several days ahead of schedule, officials they would begin tearing the cautionary plastic off of all 1,100 Calgary playgrounds today, allowing select neighbourhoods access to a spring-summer saving grace.
The city has asked that if any tape remains on the equipment that you do not go to the playground. As with nearly everything in quaran-times, this will happen slowly. Parks have gone unused through the winter months and will need to undergo season inspections before moving forward.

Luckily, the city expects that all parks will be open by Jue 3rd, so you won’t be waiting long! It’s important to remember, however, that you sanitize your child’s hands before after and during playing on the playground. The city recommends that you bring wipes, to cleanse the equipment after its use. Also, it’s still mandatory that you remain physically distanced from other families, limit gatherings and stay home if you’re feeling under the weather.
It’s a lot of stuff to remember, but we’ll take the tradeoff if it means access to the monkey bars once more. Stay safe out there, Calgary, but remember to enjoy yourselves!
