Well hey there, Calgary! The weekend has arrived and that means we’re ready to get absolutely nuts and hit the town, hit the couch, hit the snacks, and not hit the snooze (in no particular order). With all of that in mind, here are some of the absolute best things to do in Calgary this weekend.

Calgary Flames vs Nashville Predators

Join in the C of Red to watch the boys (hopefully) keep up their winning ways against the powerhouse Preds. It’s a battle between two of the hottest teams in the league so you know it’s gonna be a Saturday night alright for fighting…or a good game at least.

Where: Scotiabank Saddledome
When: Saturday, December 8
Time: 8 PM
Cost: $53 and Up

CP Holiday Train

Come Saturday, the Canadian Pacific’s holly jolly locomotive will be cruising through our communities to spread cheer and collect donations for the food bank. It will be the 20th tour of the CP Holiday Train, which means that we can expect 20x the good tidings and merriment this year.

Where: Anderson C-Train Station – South C-Train Parking Lot
When: Saturday, December 8
Time: 6:45 PM – 7:45 PM
Cost: Entry by non-perishable donation to The Calgary Food Bank

Tenacious D

Watch Kyle Gass and Jack Black turn the clock back and dive into their notoriously fun genre of opera-rock. You know these funnymen can put on a show so if you’re feeling like rocking out with one of Hollywood’s biggest stars and his buddy (no offense, Mr. Gass), then snag some tickets and have yourself a blast.

Where: Grey Eagle Event Centre
When: Sunday, December 9
Time: 8 PM
Cost: $82 and Up

Viessmann Luge World Cup

Do we know much about luge? Nope! Do we like watching things go fast? Yup! If Ricky Bobby were a Canadian you’d bet he’d be a luger and the Viessman World Cup would be his Talladega. Head over to WinSport to watch the fastest sliders in the world compete for the top prize, and join in on a whole bunch of spectators activities including live music, a festival tent, and Santa visits!

Where: WinSport – Canada Olympic Park
When: Friday, December 7 – Saturday, December 8
Time: Times Vary
Cost: $10

Three Days Grace

Rock out with these Canadian boys who have been topping the charts for almost two decades now at the Grey Eagle this weekend. Hit the casino for a little pre-concert money-swapping and boom! You might be treated to a real good night (throw it all on black, for Curiocity’s sake).

Where: Grey Eagle Event Centre
When: Saturday, December 8
Time: 7:30 PM
Cost: $55

Tough Guy Premiere – The Bob Probert Story

If you’re a hockey fan and you’re looking for some insight into the world of what it was like to be one of the toughest enforcers of all-time, then the premiere of this flick is right up your alley. Bob Probert is oft-considered the most punishing pugilist to ever lace ’em up in the big leagues, but the heartbreaking of what was going on behind the scenes of his hockey life is a serious wake-up call to the hockey world. Get ready to cheer and get ready to cry.

Where: Plaza Theatre, 1133 Kensington Road NW
When: Saturday, December 8
Time: 6:30 PM
Cost: $15

Holiday Fest ‘n’ Film

Pose for some vintage holiday photos, hang by the crackling fire pits, and then watch a lighthearted movie with your crew at Holiday F&F! They’ll be playing Smallfoot at 2 PM, so show up early and BYOB (Bring Your Own Blankets, duh) for a special holiday time.

Where: St. Patrick’s Island Amphitheatre
When: Sunday, December 9
Time: 12 PM – 2 PM
Cost: Free

Go Curling on the Island

The curling sheet is back at St Patrick’s Island, which means 2 things: 1) you can hang there solo or bring your crew to play, and 2) you no longer have an excuse to be embarrassingly bad at Canada’s (2nd?) fave sport.

Where: St. Patrick’s Island
When: Until March 31st, 2019
Time: 9 AM – 7 PM
Cost: Free

Enjoy yourselves out there on this lovely weekend, Calgary!
