Well, it’s here, folks. We have a big day ahead of us. Today, Monday, May 25th, Calgary’s pubs, restaurants, salons, and barbershops are officially able to open again (with restrictions) as part of Alberta’s phase 1 relaunch strategy. Now, of course like many of you, we’re skeptical, but we’re also optimistic and it will be nice to see the city come alive again.

Alberta cities, Calgary and Brooks were unable to relaunch with the rest of the province due to higher cases of the COVID-19 virus in each area. Now, according to Premier Jason Kenney who spoke on Alberta’s relaunch Friday, thanks to the “vigilance of Albertans” we are now winning the fight against the coronavirus!

Calgary restaurants, salons to reopen Monday as part of Alberta’s relaunch

Right now in Calgary, there are 629 active cases, but we’ve seen over 4,000 people recover and that is a pretty big deal. These numbers are proof that we are healing as a city, but also the importance of precaution. We aren’t out of the woods yet, folks!

Pubs, restaurants, and salons will only be able to resume business at a 50% capacity and are required to have taken several measures before illuminating the ‘Open’ sign.

Whether an establishment reopens will be up to be the owners, so despite the lifted order, you may not see your favourite spot relaunch right away. Don’t fret though, most places are still offering delivery or take out!

We’ll keep you guys updated as things being to reopen, but remember to stay safe, smart, and to practice physical distancing! Happy relaunch day!
