8 things to do at home and around Calgary this week (May 25-29)

Happy Sunday, everyone! For this list of things to do in Calgary, we are keeping things pretty simple. After all, the province is reopening bit by bit which has us experiencing regular stuff (eating, drinking, walking around) in a whole new way.
Here are 8 things to do this week at home and around Calgary.
HIT UP A RESTAURANT FOR DINE-IN
Yup, starting on Monday, Calgary’s restaurants will be allowed to once again host dine-in services. That being said, it’ll be up to the restaurants themselves if they’d like to open yet or not. Happy eating, folks!
GET A HAIRCUT!
Holy smokes, it’s finally here! In case the last couple of months has you looking more unkempt than usual then you’ll be happy to know that Calgary’s barbershops and hair salons are ok to open on Monday. You’ll have to check for yourself to see what’s open, but here’s hoping we can all get lined up before week’s end.
WALK THE DINOSAUR
Is this a real recommendation or did we just want to reference an iconic song? No matter, because the Royal Tyrrell Museum officially reopened over the weekend. We consider it a ‘must-visit’ Albertan attraction, so maybe this is the week you check it out.
BOOK A FLIGHT
Last week, Air Canada announced that it was reopening routes across Canada, the US and internationally with enhanced health measures. We only recommend this if you need to visit family or something equally important, but the option is now there.
VOLUNTEER FROM HOME
There’s never a bad time to give back to the community. And now more than ever it’s super important. So check out these awesome volunteer opportunities to keep yourself busy this quarantine.
COMMUNE WITH NATURE
Alberta Parks have reopened for day use, so if you’re craving a hike you’re good to go! But, we implore you to not block roadways, since that was apparently running rampant last week. Enjoy the great outdoors, but do so safely please.
VISIT A CELEBRITY’S HOME
Okay, so you can’t physically visit a celebrity’s home. But you can virtually with this new show! ETalk Open House will take you into the homes of some of music’s biggest names. And they premier this week! We know we’ll be watching!
DOCUMENT YOUR COVID EXPERIENCE FOR THE GLENBOW
Do you have a story to tell? The Glenbow Museum wants to hear from you! Dear Glenbow is a project encouraging Calgarians to write a letter to them detailing your experience during the COVID pandemic in the hopes of inspiring future artists and exhibits at the museum.
When: Until Friday, July 31st
Where: See recipient address and email here
Yeah, it’s a tad repetitive, but we’re way too excited to be able to safely do normal things again to care. Slap on a mask and get out and about, folks!
