Good news, fellow YYC animal lovers! The Calgary Zoo has announced that they’ll finally reopen next weekend! Of course, things will look pretty different in order to prevent any further spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Luckily, the new measures aren’t anything we weren’t already expecting! Everything is pretty standard, and for that we’re thankful… We certainly don’t need any more surprises in 2020!

Instead of grabbing your ticket and then just popping in, visitor entry will be controlled and staggered to ensure the zoo doesn’t get overcrowded. Masks will be recommended, as will physical distancing and anyone exhibiting any symptoms will be turned away.
Unfortunately, all indoor exhibits and facilities will be closed for the time being, and playgrounds will be closed, as will the Zoo’s carousel. Fair enough!
In addition to this, to thank them for their patience and understanding, the zoo will actually hold a members-only day, ahead of its official re-open date!
Calgarians will be returning to a zoo without their giant pandas, but the springtime staple will be accessible again and in an effort to see the bright side of all of this, it’s a heck of a lot better than no zoo at all.
Stay safe, folks, and we’ll see you out there!
