Alberta announces program to give 40 million non-medical masks to residents

“You get a mask, and you get a mask! Everyone gets a mask!” – Jason Kenney (probably.) According to the premier, Alberta will launch a ‘non-medical mask program’ at the end of the month, which will see the distribution of 40 million cloth coverings to provincial residents.
According to Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw, masks are worth wearing any time you’re going to be within 2-metres of someone else but has reminded us that they do not, by any means, replace public health measures.

“Even if someone is wearing a mask, it’s still really important to try and maintain that distancing as much as possible. There may be a mistaken impression that if a group of friends want to get together and have a party, as long as everyone is wearing a cloth mask, they can do so and there’s no problem at all,” she said in a press conference.
If wearing a mask, it’s important to remember to wash your hands before and after putting it on, that you should not share with others, and it’s washed frequently among other things.
As of right now, there isn’t a ton of information on the distribution process of the masks, but we can expect more information within the next few weeks!
What an exciting time! This non-medical mask program could be huge in making a change, guys! Brava!
