Christmas is coming in faster than you can say “keep the change, ya filthy animal,” so it’s time to embrace those festive vibes… and what better way to do that than to hit up some free December events?! Keep reading for the scoop on this month’s to-dos!
Canadian Pacific Holiday Train
Come Saturday, the Canadian Pacific’s holly jolly locomotive will be cruising through our communities to spread cheer and collect donations for the food bank. It will be the 20th tour of the CP Holiday Train, which means that we can expect 20x the good tidings and merriment this year.
Where: Anderson C-Train Station– South C-train Parking Lot
When: December 8
Time: 6:45PM-7:45PM
Cost: Entry By Non-Perishable Donation To The Calgary Food Bank

Christmas at the Hive
Remember when everyone was obsessed with saving the bees? Well, now we’re bringing that back! Support those little fuzzy rascals and come out to the Chinook Honey Company to make beeswax candles + honey taffy and drink honey hot chocolate + mulled mead! Holiday Fest ‘n’ Film
Pose for some vintage holiday photos, hang by the crackling fire pits, and then watch a lighthearted movie with your crew at Holiday F&F! They’ll be playing Smallfoot at 2 PM, so show up early and BYOB (Bring Your Own Blankets, duh) for a special holiday time. Lions Festival Of Lights
The Festival of Lights is the largest free drive-by Christmas Lights showcase in Calgary. It’s comprised of over 450,000 bulbs on 16,000 strings along 14th St NW– and the best part is it’s 99% green!

When: On Nightly Until January 8
Time: 6PM-12AM
Cost: Free
Curling On The Island
The curling sheet is back at St Patrick’s Island, which means 2 things: 1) you can hang there solo or bring your crew to play, and 2) you no longer have an excuse to be embarrassingly bad at Canada’s (2nd?) fave sport.
