2020 has been a little bit crazy, but the organizers of Calgary Pride aren’t letting that get in the way of their city-wide celebration, no ma’am! In compliance with the Health minister’s recommendations, the vibrant week-long event has been reimagined, but not cancelled.
Pride began as a humble backyard barbeque and an anonymous march down 17th Avenue and has since become a colourful parade with 100,000 spectators and community support.

This year, due to the virus, Calgary Pride’s 30th-anniversary event will take place across social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Twitch, and YouTube. All content, which will include performances, workshops, interviews, and newscasts, will be free, live, and curated by the organization.
Pride has also invited local businesses to collaborate by hosting smaller safe events to raise money for next year’s festival, and will host its marketplace online, which is a win-win in our eyes!
“Pride is at its essence a celebration of resiliency, community & love. This year will be no different,” Calgary Pride said on the official website.
If you’d like to learn more about the event, or how you can partner with the organization, check out their website here. Happy 30th, Pride!
