Foodora food delivery to stop Canada operations permanently on May 11th


Earlier today, the food delivery service Foodora announced that it will be ceasing operations across Canada come May 11. The Berlin-based company cited intense competition and continued losses as the main reasons for exiting the country.
Foodora Canada has been in the country for the past 5 years. During that time, it managed to grow a list of roughly 3000 restaurants across 10 major Canadian cities. Not bad growth at all, but apparently not good enough either.

But come to think of it, they haven’t been nearly as vocal about their business as their competitors these past few weeks. Ironically, this is the second German company to get out of Canada, since Share Now (formerly Car2Go) bailed at the start of this year.
In the press release, Foodora Canada announced that they are committed to supporting employees across the country during the transition. However, no further details were provided on what support might look like.
