True north strong, and kind AF! Canada’s generosity actually crashed a website over the weekend during the televised, commercial-free airing of ‘Stronger Together,’ a celeb-heavy benefit for the Food Banks of Canada.

The event featured the likes of Justin Beiber, Michael Buble, Ryan Reynolds, Mike Myers, and Drake. Also, frontline workers and virus sufferers joined in, all to encourage Canadians who can afford to donate to do so via text or online.

Needless to say, the organizers of the 90-minute Stronger Together event got an overwhelming response and the site was crushed under the weight of Canada’s impressive desire to give. Nicely done!

The initial goal was to raise $150-million for the FBC, in hopes of providing immediate support for those who were unemployed and vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic. Food Banks have seen increased demand and to say that it’s been difficult for them to keep up, would be an understatement.

They have yet to announce how much they actually raised Sunday night, but we’re sure that they would definitely be close, if not have blown past their goal. They are still taking donations though, so if you’d like to contribute, you can text COVID to 30333, call 1 (877) 535-0958, or visit their website, which is now back up and running here.
