City of Calgary announces 30 minute parking grace period amid pandemic

Yeah, the city is pretty much shut down, but luckily, thanks to our quick thinking businesses, almost everything is still available through delivery or pick-up. That’s why it only really made sense for the Calgary Parking Authority to allow a 30-minute parking grace period.
In a press conference yesterday, the city announced that the change will actually go into effect today, Thursday, April 9th. This new rule will remain in place until we’re no longer considered to be in a state of emergency, which could be quite some time!

You do not need to pay or start a ParkPlus session if your trip is less than 30 minutes long. Parking rules are still in place in the interest of public safety; for example, no parking is permitted within 5m of crosswalks and fire hydrants. (2/2)

This will apply to anyone parked in either Park Plus Zones or residential permit areas of the city, so this is huge! Just remember to be respectful, guys!
This doesn’t mean that you should literally park wherever for an extra 29 minutes and 59 seconds, the world is crazy enough without your wild antics!
