8 things to do at home this week in Calgary (April 6-10)

Happy Sunday, everybody! We hope that your weekend went well and was filled with fun things to do. If not, then we’re back again this week with more picks that are by and large available from the comfort of your own home. After all, we’re all together in social distancing.
Here are 8 things to do at home this week in Calgary.
Enjoy #virtualhappyhour
Molson Canadian recently announced a promotion where you can get a $25 gift card to your favourite restaurant just by taking part in #virtualhappyhour. It’s a great move by the company, click the link above to learn more about it.
Become a Disney Imagineer
Ok, not really. But, Disney has opened up access to the ‘Imagineer’ program, which sounds fake but isn’t. In fact, it’s a multidisciplinary creative engine that combines a whole bunch of different fields. Of course, this is definitely ground-level stuff, but it’s still cool to check out!
Focus on some good news
We try to make things are positive as possible here at Curiocity, but even we can’t keep up with COVID-19 Recovery. This is basically a full-fledged stream of all the good stuff going on amidst COVID-19. From vaccine trials to local news stories, there is tons of stuff to explore.
Learn a new language
Yup, we’re finally recommending Duolingo. Honestly, if this website didn’t exist we would have failed Spanish in university and would never have recovered. Next step- tearing our hair out as we try to become fluent in Japanese.
Learn to Code
We admit that these are two pretty intense picks, but hey, we should mix things up every once in a while. Codecademy offers 180 hours of free coding tutorials. Wanting to learn a new school in your down time? This one will make you the most money.
Check out some Great Movies
But don’t take our word for it. Instead, we recommend you browse through the list created by the greatest movie critic of all time, Roger Ebert. From 1914 to present day, these are the must-see movies to cross of your bucket list.
Or, watch some TV from the 90s
Shoutout to a wildly informative Reddit post about rabbit holes on the Internet. Basically, this website rounds up a bunch of different YouTube videos from the 90s, then presents them as individual TV channels. Sports, music, talk shows… you name it!
Go Shopping
Each week, we’re realizing how important this is, so it’s sticking around. A lot of independent businesses are going to be under pretty intense financial stress for a while. So if you’ve got some spending money, support them. Order takeout/delivery, buy that shirt off Etsy, get a book delivered from a local store… whatever it is, your extra buck or two is more important than ever.
And that’s our guide for the best things to do from the comfort of your home this week! If you need us, we will be working through all those movies that Roger Ebert recommended.
