The city announces a deferral on all utility bill payments amid outbreak

Well hey there, folks! We come bearing a bit of relief to those feeling the pressure during the COVID outbreak. In the hopes of assisting anyone struggling during the pandemic, the City of Calgary has announced they will allow deferral of 3 months for all utility bill payments.

Statements will be still sent out in April, May, and June, but residents and business owners will now have the choice to pay all, part or none of it. The outstanding balance will then be spread evenly across utility bills for the remaining 6 months of the year.
Oh, and if you’re worried about the accrual of interest or a penalty, don’t be! The City has decided to also wave any additional fees.
“Right now, we’re focused on helping individuals.” Mayor Naheed Nenshi said on the utility bill deferral program.
