Cookie Mama hits the sweet spot with their dairy & gluten-free desserts
Cakes, cookies, and brownies just the way mom used to make? That’s what we’re talking about! Calgary’s aptly named, Cookie Mama is home-made, home-tested and has our 8-year-old self is quaking. Bring on the sugar high!
Owner and operator of Cookie Mama, Janet Wong Ken is that mom. She opened her first location in Inglewood 10 years after the birth of her first kidlet, putting everything she claims she actually ‘learned from the school of mom’ to good use, and man, are we glad she did. They’ve since moved to the Beltine, just off of 17th Avenue, which is almost perfect for an after-work swing by.
Everything from the bite-sized to the plate-full is made with quality ingredients, is preservative and additive-free and baked with what we can only assume is love. That has to be what it is, right?

Cookie Mama has kind of made a name for themselves. Yeah, they’re incredibly tasty, but they’re also crazy accommodating. Seriously, no one else does gluten-free, Vegan, dairy-free sweets, quite like they do.
If it’s just a craving or a celebration of sorts, everyone should be able to get their ‘ssert on!
As Cookie Mama continues to expand, they continue to try new things and integrate new ideas. Now, you can grab a 4-tier cake, a latte and a cup of froyo in the same place. Those are basically our 3 favourite things, so we’re buzzing.
This place is absolutely worth checking out, dietary restriction/preference or not. We promise, you definitely won’t regret it! Maybe while you’re there, you’ll pick up something for your ol’ friends at Curiocity?
