Forbes announces the best employers in Canada for 2020

Forbes released its list of the best employers in Canada for 2020, and things are looking kind of fun! At least in Eastern Canada they are, which absolutely dominated the top 15 or so companies. But, the criteria for the evaluation might be a factor.

You see, Forbes required that in order to be evaluated, companies had to have at least 500 employees. So, that excludes a fair number of smaller companies that might have very satisfied employees. Basically, that super cute cafe down the street from you wasn’t even considered. Rude.

Anyway, here are the top 5 of the 300 listed.

  1. Google, Toronto
  2. Hydro-Electrique, Montreal
  3. Cisco Systems, Toronto
  4. Costco Wholesale, Ottawa
  5. Ubisoft, Montreal

As you can see, Forbes left no stone unturned when it came to their list. In the top 5 alone you’ve got tech, power, and retail companies all bundled together. It’s definitely a different look than the steel and oil barons of years gone by. Well, at least for us, it is!

Weirdly, Forbes included Keurig Canada in the top 50, even though it’s apparently located in Massachusetts. But they’ve got an office in Montreal too. So, maybe they just messed up when finding the location? We’re not entirely sure here.

Anyway, there’s the roundup of the best employers in Canada for 2020. You can check out the full list here! Look for Curiocity on next year’s list!
