Calgary named one of the world’s best cities to live in for families

Via Canadian Art

So much praise in so little time. YYC is a humble city, but if we get any more kudos, our head might just float off our shoulders. Congratulations, folks! Calgary has just been named one of the best cities in the entire world to live for families!

All of the data was compiled and then scored by relocation company Movinga, who evaluated 150 major cities. Each location was judged on livability, education, employment rates and benefits, and business opportunities, among other things.

In first was Helsinki, Finland. This was thanks to its absolutely insane 1,190 days of parental leave, bomb health care, and high-quality education.

Despite Calgary’s measly 364 days of mat-pat leave, which was definitely no match for that of the European city, we still managed to place 8th overall. Calgs did really well when it came to quality education, neighbourhood safety, and also family-friendliness, which is pretty impressive in our opinion. Give yourselves a pat on the back, guys!

Here’s the rest of Movinga’s top 10 list! Surprisingly, it only includes 2 Canadian cities.

1. Helsinki, Finland
2. Quebec City, Canada
3. Oslo, Norway
4. Munich, Germany
5. Copenhagen, Denmark
6. Stockholm, Sweden
7. Reykjavik, Iceland
8. Calgary, Canada
9. Montreal, Canada
10. Gothenburg, Sweden
